Koforidua, July 10, 2026 — The New Juaben South Municipal Assembly (NJSMA) on Friday, July 10, 2026, joined the Nationwide General Cleaning Exercise directed by President John Dramani Mahama, with the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Ransford Owusu Boakye, leading Assembly staff and officials in a clean-up of the Koforidua Municipality.
The exercise, held under the theme “Our Actions, Our Future: Cleaning Ghana after the Floods,” was coordinated nationally by the Post-Flood Mitigation Committee as part of government’s response to recent floods that affected several regions of the country, including the Eastern Region. The President had directed all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives, together with Ministers of State and heads of public institutions, to step out of their offices and personally lead clean-up activities within their communities.
In line with the directive, the Municipal Chief Executive led Assembly staff to undertake activities including the desilting of choked drains, sweeping of streets, and clearing of debris from public spaces within the Municipality, as part of efforts to improve environmental sanitation and reduce the risk of flooding.
Speaking during the exercise, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Ransford Owusu Boakye, commended staff of the Assembly for their enthusiastic participation and urged residents of New Juaben South to embrace clean environmental practices beyond the two-day exercise.
“Sanitation is not a one-day affair. As an Assembly, we are committed to leading by example, and I encourage every resident of New Juaben South to take personal responsibility for keeping our homes, streets, and public spaces clean at all times,” he said.
The national exercise continues on Saturday, July 11, 2026, when members of the public are expected to join security agencies and Assemblies across the country to scale up clean-up efforts in their respective communities.
