About this department

The Budget and Rating Unit operates under the Finance Department of the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly and provides technical leadership in the preparation, management, and monitoring of the Assembly's budget.

Our objectives

The unit exists to ensure effective budget preparation and management for the Assembly. It seeks to improve revenue mobilisation through accurate rating and property valuation, and to ensure that all expenditures are monitored against approved allocations.

Roles & functions

The unit prepares the Fee-Fixing and Rate Imposition Resolutions and coordinates the preparation and monitoring of the annual composite budget. It maintains the revenue database, prepares nominal rolls for salary administration, and evaluates project expenditures to ensure value for money. It also serves as the technical secretariat for all budgeting and rating activities of the Assembly, advises management on the financial implications of decisions, and supports the Finance and Administration Sub-Committee with budget and revenue performance reports.
