The Physical Planning Department, also known as the Town and Country Planning Department, manages spatial and land-use planning, building permits, and development control within the New Juaben South Municipality to ensure orderly and sustainable development.
Roles & functions
The department prepares spatial development frameworks and layout plans, processes and issues building permits and development approvals, and conducts inspections to ensure compliance with approved plans. It demarcates and gazettes town boundaries and street nomenclature, coordinates environmental impact assessments for major projects, and manages land allocation in consultation with the Lands Commission. The department acts as the District Planning Authority under Act 936, enforces the Land Use and Spatial Planning Act 2016 (Act 925), and serves as the technical secretariat for all development control and zoning matters within the municipality.
