About this department

The Disaster Prevention and Management Department is the municipal office of NADMO (National Disaster Management Organization) in the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly. It's responsible for disaster risk reduction and emergency response within the municipality.

Our objectives

The department exists to prevent and mitigate disasters within the municipality, coordinate emergency response across Koforidua, and build community resilience through disaster preparedness education.

Roles & functions

The department maps flood-prone zones, trains community volunteers, and organises disaster education campaigns across the municipality. It coordinates relief distribution to disaster-affected households, inspects public buildings for safety compliance, and maintains a municipal disaster response plan. It also serves as the district focal point for NADMO national operations and works closely with relevant agencies during emergencies to report incidents and damage assessments to the Assembly.
