About this department

The Works Department provides engineering and technical services for the planning, construction, maintenance, and management of public infrastructure and facilities within the New Juaben South Municipality.

Our objectives

The department exists to ensure quality construction and maintenance of infrastructure across the municipality, provide technical engineering advice to the Assembly, and manage all public works assets effectively.

Roles & functions

The department plans, designs, constructs, and supervises roads, bridges, and drains, and maintains public buildings and Assembly facilities. It manages the Assembly's vehicles, plant, and equipment fleet, prepares Bills of Quantities, and supervises contractors on capital projects. The department also enforces building regulations and construction standards, serves as the technical advisor to the Assembly on all engineering matters, implements the decisions of the Works Sub-Committee, and certifies all capital works projects for payment.
