The Transport Unit is responsible for managing all activities related to transportation within the Assembly. It oversees the formulation and implementation of transport policies and ensures the effective and efficient utilisation of all official vehicles and transport resources of the Assembly.

Our objectives

The unit exists to ensure the efficient management and maintenance of the Assembly's transport fleet in support of service delivery. It seeks to regulate the use of official vehicles, ensure cost-effective utilisation of transport resources, and advise management on all transport-related matters.

Roles & functions

The unit formulates and implements transport policies for the Assembly and advises management on the procurement of new vehicles and spare parts. It regulates and monitors the day-to-day use of all official vehicles to ensure proper and efficient utilisation, and coordinates the scheduling and deployment of vehicles across departments. The unit maintains service and maintenance records for all Assembly vehicles, ensures adequate utilisation of financial resources allocated for transport, and reports on the condition and performance of the Assembly's vehicle fleet. It also serves as the principal advisory body to the Municipal Coordinating Director on all transport management matters within the Assembly.
