Staff of the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly (NJSMA) on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, joined the rest of the nation in proudly wearing their Ghana jerseys to the workplace, as part of a nationwide campaign to rally support for the Black Stars ahead of their opening 2026 FIFA World Cup Group L fixture against Panama in Toronto, Canada.
More than thirty (30) members of staff participated in the initiative, showing up to work dressed in the national colours — green, gold, and black — in a powerful display of unity and patriotism. The gesture was in response to a call by the Assembly, championed by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Ransford Owusu Boakye, urging all residents and staff to “Rep Your Ghana Jersey” on match day.
The initiative, which was widely publicised by the Assembly on its official social media platforms, sought to create a sense of collective pride and national identity across the municipality as Ghana made its return to the global stage of football.
Speaking on the occasion, Hon. Ransford Owusu Boakye expressed his delight at the enthusiasm shown by staff and residents alike.
“We are proud Ghanaians, and today is a moment for all of us to show that pride. I am encouraged to see our staff lead by example — wearing the national colours and sending a message of support to our Black Stars. No matter where we are, our hearts are in Toronto with our boys,” he stated.
The Black Stars, under the charge of head coach Carlos Queiroz, are making their fifth FIFA World Cup appearance and have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia. The opening match against Panama kicked off at 7:00 PM Eastern Time (11:00 PM GMT) at BMO Field in Toronto.
The New Juaben South Municipal Assembly continues to identify with national causes that foster unity, patriotism, and community spirit, consistent with its commitment to holistic development under the motto: “Together We Build.”
