Nyamekrom, New Juaben South Municipality, Monday, 31st August 2026
The New Juaben South Municipal Assembly has officially cut the sod for the construction of a new Police Station at Nyamekrom, a significant development expected to strengthen security and improve the general safety of residents in the community and surrounding areas.
The ceremony, held on Monday, 31st August 2026, brought together Traditional Leaders, the Assembly Member for the area, residents of Nyamekrom, representatives from the Ghana Police Service, and other key stakeholders who gathered to witness the commencement of the important project.
The construction of the Police Station forms part of broader efforts to improve security infrastructure and ensure that residents have access to effective and responsive security services. The project is expected to provide a permanent operational base for the Ghana Police Service within the community, thereby increasing police visibility and making it easier for security personnel to respond promptly to incidents and emergencies.
Speaking at the sod cutting ceremony, stakeholders highlighted the importance of the project to the development and security of Nyamekrom and its surrounding communities. The establishment of a Police Station in the area is expected to contribute significantly to the prevention of crime and promote a greater sense of safety among residents.
For many communities, the presence of an accessible and adequately positioned Police Station plays an important role in maintaining law and order. The new facility at Nyamekrom is therefore expected to enhance the ability of the Ghana Police Service to carry out its duties effectively while strengthening its engagement with residents.
The project is also expected to deepen collaboration between the Police Service, the Municipal Assembly, Traditional Authorities, community leaders, and residents. Strong cooperation between security agencies and local communities remains essential in identifying security concerns, preventing crime, sharing relevant information, and creating a safe environment for residents and businesses to thrive.
The New Juaben South Municipal Assembly recognises that sustainable development cannot be achieved without peace, security, and public safety. The Assembly therefore considers the construction of the Police Station an important investment in the wellbeing and future development of Nyamekrom and neighbouring communities.
The improved police presence that will result from the project is expected to provide residents with greater confidence and reassurance. It will also support security personnel in monitoring activities within the community and responding more effectively to reported incidents.
Beyond its immediate security benefits, the project is expected to contribute to the broader development of Nyamekrom. A secure community provides a favourable environment for economic activities, education, social interaction, and other development initiatives. Improved security can also encourage residents, businesses, and other stakeholders to invest more confidently in the area.
The involvement of Traditional Leaders and community residents in the sod cutting ceremony further demonstrated the importance of community ownership and participation in development projects. Their support and cooperation will be critical to ensuring that the project is completed successfully and ultimately serves the purpose for which it is intended.
The Ghana Police Service delegation present at the ceremony also reaffirmed the importance of strengthening security infrastructure at the community level. A dedicated Police Station will provide the Service with the necessary space and operational capacity to engage more closely with residents and respond to security needs within the area.
The Assembly Member for the area and residents of Nyamekrom expressed their appreciation for the initiative, noting that the project responds to an important need within the community. The establishment of a Police Station has long term potential to improve security and provide residents with a more accessible point of contact with the Police Service.
The New Juaben South Municipal Assembly has assured stakeholders of its continued commitment to supporting the successful implementation of the project. The Assembly will continue to work closely with the Ghana Police Service, Traditional Authorities, community leaders, residents, contractors, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that the project progresses as planned.
The Assembly believes that development is most effective when stakeholders work together towards a common goal. The sod cutting ceremony therefore marks not only the beginning of the construction of a new Police Station but also another important step in the collective efforts to promote peace, security, and sustainable development within the Municipality.
The project is expected to serve as a valuable addition to the security infrastructure of the New Juaben South Municipality and provide lasting benefits to the people of Nyamekrom and communities within its operational area.
The New Juaben South Municipal Assembly remains committed to creating an environment where residents can live, work, and conduct their daily activities in peace and safety. Through continued collaboration with security agencies, Traditional Authorities, community members, and other development partners, the Assembly will continue to pursue initiatives that promote public safety and improve the quality of life of residents.
The sod cutting ceremony at Nyamekrom thus marks an important milestone in the Municipality’s ongoing commitment to strengthening security services and creating safer communities for present and future generations.
