The National Youth Authority (NYA), in collaboration with the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly, has distributed the first batch of start-up equipment to beneficiaries of the National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP) in the municipality, marking a significant milestone in the government's drive to empower the youth of New Juaben South with the tools and skills needed to build productive and sustainable livelihoods.
The distribution exercise forms part of the government's broader commitment to equipping young people with practical vocational skills and the necessary resources to transition into self-employment and long-term economic independence. Beneficiaries drawn from a wide range of trades including dressmaking, tailoring, beauty arts, carpentry, masonry, and electrical installation received essential tools and equipment tailored to support their respective crafts and help them hit the ground running as they begin their entrepreneurial journeys.
The Municipal Chief Executive of New Juaben South, Hon. Ransford Owusu Boakye, commended the NYA and the NDC Government under His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama for the bold and timely investment in youth empowerment. He urged all beneficiaries to make good use of the equipment and commit wholeheartedly to building productive careers that will not only transform their own lives but contribute meaningfully to the development of New Juaben South and Ghana as a whole.
The National Apprenticeship Programme, backed by a GH¢300 million allocation in the national budget, is a flagship government initiative designed to tackle youth unemployment and promote self-reliance through Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). The programme represents a significant vote of confidence in Ghana's young people and a recognition that investing in their skills and their futures is one of the most powerful drivers of national development.
The New Juaben South Municipal Assembly remains committed to supporting every initiative that creates opportunities for the youth of the municipality, and the successful distribution of this first batch of equipment is a proud and encouraging step forward in that shared mission. Together, we build.
