Koforidua -Eastern Region
The Eastern Premier Hotel in Koforidua played host to a historic and energetic gathering on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, as the maiden Ghana Youth Summit officially got underway, bringing together approximately 500 young leaders, policymakers, innovators, and stakeholders for a landmark two day event that promises to shape the conversation around youth development and governance in Ghana for years to come.
Organised by STAR Ghana Foundation in collaboration with the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly, Youth Advocates Ghana, Kofkro Partners, and the National Youth Authority, the summit runs from November 5 to 6, 2025, with sessions beginning at 9:30 am each day. The event is being held under the thought provoking theme, "Harnessing the Power of Youth for Transformative Development," a theme that captures the spirit and ambition of an occasion where young Ghanaians are not just being talked about but are being given a seat at the table to help shape the decisions that affect their lives and their futures.
A Summit Built Around What Matters Most to Ghana's Youth
The two day summit is structured around five critical focus areas that reflect the most pressing issues and opportunities facing young people in Ghana today. These are Youth Participation and Governance, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Entrepreneurship and Digital Inclusion, the Right to Information and Accountability, and Building Youth Champions Against Corruption.
Each of these focus areas speaks directly to the realities that young Ghanaians navigate on a daily basis, from the desire to have their voices heard in governance and decision making, to the urgent need for mental health support, to the growing recognition that entrepreneurship and digital skills are among the most powerful tools available to young people seeking to build meaningful and sustainable livelihoods in a rapidly changing world.
The inclusion of accountability, the right to information, and anti corruption as dedicated focus areas is particularly significant, reflecting a mature and responsible approach to youth empowerment that goes beyond skills training and economic opportunity to address the systemic challenges that hold communities and nations back from reaching their full potential.
Dialogue, Energy, and Action
The atmosphere at the Eastern Premier Hotel on the opening day was described as phenomenal, with the energy of 500 young minds converging in one space to engage, debate, and co create solutions generating a buzz that extended well beyond the walls of the venue. From powerful keynote addresses delivered by distinguished policymakers and development experts to interactive breakout sessions that gave participants the opportunity to dive deep into each focus area, the summit has been designed from the ground up to be an experience that moves beyond talk and drives real, tangible action.
The New Juaben South Municipal Assembly, as a key collaborator in the organisation of the summit, has demonstrated once again its commitment to creating platforms where the youth of the municipality and the broader Eastern Region can engage meaningfully with the issues that matter most to their generation. The Assembly recognises that the youth are not the leaders of tomorrow but the leaders of today, and events like the Ghana Youth Summit are a practical expression of that belief.
A Historic First for Koforidua and Ghana
As the maiden edition of the Ghana Youth Summit, the event holds a special significance that goes beyond the two days of programming at the Eastern Premier Hotel. It marks the beginning of what organisers and participants hope will become a flagship annual platform for youth engagement, a space where the next generation of Ghana's leaders, entrepreneurs, innovators, and changemakers can come together every year to share ideas, build networks, hold decision makers accountable, and take ownership of the development of their communities and their country.
For Koforidua and New Juaben South, hosting the inaugural edition of the Ghana Youth Summit is a source of immense pride and a powerful statement about the municipality's growing profile as a hub of progressive thinking, community development, and youth empowerment in the Eastern Region and beyond.
As the summit continues into its second day on November 6, the conversations, commitments, and connections being forged at the Eastern Premier Hotel carry with them the hopes and aspirations of a generation that is ready, willing, and more than capable of building the Ghana they deserve. This is where dialogue transforms into action, where commitments become reality, and where Ghana's future is being shaped. 💪
