In a powerful show of commitment to the health and wellbeing of women across New Juaben South, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Ransford Owusu Boakye, joined hands with the Assembly Member for Old Estate to support a free Breast Cancer Screening Exercise held within the community in October 2025, bringing vital and potentially life saving health services directly to the doorstep of residents.
The free screening exercise, organised by the Assembly Member for Old Estate, provided women in the community with access to breast cancer screening at no cost, removing the financial barrier that too often prevents many women from seeking early medical attention. The initiative drew a strong turnout of women from across the community, all of whom took the opportunity to have themselves screened in a safe, supportive, and professionally managed environment.
Breast cancer remains one of the most prevalent and serious health challenges facing women in Ghana and across the world. According to health experts, early detection is the single most powerful tool in the fight against the disease, significantly increasing the chances of successful treatment and survival. By bringing free screening services directly into the community, the Assembly Member for Old Estate and the Municipal Chief Executive demonstrated a deep understanding of this reality and a genuine commitment to acting on it in a practical and impactful way.
Hon. Ransford Owusu Boakye expressed his strong support for the initiative, commending the Assembly Member for Old Estate for organising such a vital and timely health intervention for the women of the community. He reaffirmed the Assembly's commitment to prioritising the health and wellbeing of every resident of New Juaben South, and encouraged all women in the municipality to take advantage of health screening opportunities whenever they are made available.
The Assembly expressed heartfelt gratitude to all the women who participated in the exercise, to the health professionals who gave their time and expertise to make the screening possible, and to the Assembly Member for Old Estate whose initiative and dedication to the welfare of his constituents made the entire exercise a reality.
The free Breast Cancer Screening Exercise in Old Estate is a shining example of the kind of community driven, people centred health intervention that the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly is proud to support, and it serves as a timely reminder that when it comes to the health of our communities, early action and community involvement can and do save lives.
Together, we are building a healthier New Juaben South. 💗
