The Department of Social Welfare of the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly on Monday, 26th May 2026, carried out the distribution of assistive and income generating items to Persons with Disability within the municipality, as part of a nationwide government initiative designed to support the economic independence and improve the livelihoods of differently abled citizens across every municipality in Ghana.
The presentation ceremony, held at the Assembly, was led by Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Ransford Owusu Boakye, who in his capacity as the head of the municipality personally handed over the items to beneficiaries in a gesture that underscored the Assembly's commitment to ensuring that the government's inclusive development agenda reaches every resident of New Juaben South without exception.
Items distributed included sewing machines, fridges, milling machines, and a range of other practical tools purposefully selected to equip Persons with Disability with the means to earn a living, support their families, and participate actively in the economic life of the municipality. These are not handouts but deliberate tools of empowerment, giving recipients the opportunity to build sustainable livelihoods and stand on their own feet with dignity and confidence.
The nationwide initiative reflects the government's recognition that Persons with Disability are not beneficiaries of charity but productive members of society who, when given the right tools and support, are fully capable of contributing to the growth and development of their communities. By rolling out this programme across every municipality in Ghana, the government is making a bold and clear statement that inclusive development is a national priority and not an afterthought.
At the local level, the Department of Social Welfare of the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly played a central role in coordinating the exercise, identifying eligible beneficiaries and ensuring that the distribution was carried out in a transparent, orderly, and fair manner that reached those who need the support most.
Hon. Ransford Owusu Boakye reaffirmed the Assembly's commitment to leaving no resident behind in the municipality's development agenda, stressing that his administration will continue to support and implement every government initiative that uplifts the lives of the people of New Juaben South, particularly the most vulnerable members of the community.
The beneficiaries expressed heartfelt gratitude to the government, the Municipal Assembly, and the Department of Social Welfare for the support, with many sharing how the items distributed would directly open new doors of economic opportunity and transform their daily lives in ways they had long hoped for.
The New Juaben South Municipal Assembly remains steadfast in its belief that a truly developed municipality is one that works for every single resident, and the successful distribution of these items on Monday stands as yet another proud and meaningful step in that direction. Together, we build.
